In June 1832, he was appointed to collect arrears of land revenue from the <i>zam&#299nd&#257rs</i> of Jalandhar and R&#257ho&#7749 and was assigned to Kashm&#299r on similar duty in 1838. In 1839, he accompanied Ka&#7749var Nau Nih&#257l Si&#7749gh to Pesh&#257war as custodian of the treasury. After Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh's death, Am&#299r Chand was sent to Haridv&#257r to trace and recover the treasure of Jam&#257d&#257r <u>Kh</u>ush&#257l Si&#7749gh's son, Kishan Si&#7749gh, who had it secretly transferred to the British territory. He also served as agent of the Lahore Darb&#257r at Ludhi&#257&#7751&#257, and as governor of Gujr&#257t and Pi&#7751&#7693 D&#257dan <u>Kh</u>&#257n.
